Library Closed Saturdays in July & August
The library will be closed on Saturdays throughout July and August, as well as on September 1. Saturday hours, 10 am-3 pm, will resume on September 8.
Libby Has Arrived!

New Meeting Time for Guitar Class
The following sessions remain for our guitar classes for kids ages 7 and up: Saturdays, July 21 and August 4 and 11, from 10 to 11 am. Participants must bring their own guitars. The library is closed Saturdays during the summer but will be open for the class only; the circulation desk will remain closed.
Musical Play Story Time - Note Correct Time
This interactive class on Tuesday, July 24, at 11:30 am presented by Sound & Styles gives children and their caregivers the opportunity to bond as they explore and respond to a variety of musical experiences. Enhances early childhood development and music appreciation.
HOOPLA is Back!
HOOPLA is back for our patrons! Go to and enter your library card information to download free music, movies, television programs, audiobooks, and ebooks with no late fees. Please note: each patron is entitled to any FOUR downloads per month at this time. If you need one-on-one help getting started, see our assistants Tami Jaegel and Scott Bergenfeld.
DIY Natural Cleaner Class
Learn how to make essential oil-based all purpose household cleaner, room and fabric freshener, and foaming hand soap. Geeta Lahairi, a wellness educator who conducts toxin-free lifestyle classes, will discuss these alternatives to traditional chemical-based cleaners. Call to RSVP.
Weekly Adult Mat Yoga - NO CLASS JULY 18
Enjoy an invigorating Adult Mat Yoga Class with Taryn and Kristin of Iris Mind + Body every Wednesday at 11:30 am. RSVP is appreciated. Please note: There will be no yoga class on July 18.
Take a Full-Length Practice SAT
Take a free, full-length practice SAT test on Thursday, August 2, from 11 am to 2 pm. Administered by the West Caldwell-based test prep center C2 Education, the test will take place in the library. For more details and registration instruction, check our August Adult or Teen tabs above.
Summer Teen Robotics
Teens ages 12 and up can work together to build and program a working Lego guitar every Monday in July from 4 to 5 pm. RSVP 973-226-8636.
Adult Meditation Classes
The next Adult Guided Meditation class is scheduled for Thursday, July 26, at 10 am and 7 pm. RSVP is appreciated.
Walking for Fitness
This group fitness activity meets Mondays at 10 am. Explore different types of exercise and healthy recipes in a relaxed setting. Includes 20-30 minutes of low-impact exercise streamed on video (emphasis on walking), followed by a discussion. Ideal for beginning fitness levels. Bring towel and water bottle. Call to RSVP.
Chair Yoga Mondays
Join us for some chair yoga workouts (streamed on video) every Monday starting at 11 am. Bring towel and water bottle. Call to RSVP.
Hiking Group's First Excursion Set
The first hike of the new Roseland Library Saturday Morning Hiking Group is set for Saturday, August 4. We will be meeting at Mills Reservation, off Normal Avenue in Montclair, at 8 am (weather permitting). Dogs and kids welcome if chaperoned by an adult. Hikes will continue every other Saturday. Matinee Mondays
Our next Matinee Monday on July 23 at 1 pm will feature "Hero," a 2017 romance/drama starring Sam Elliott as an aging actor reflecting on his glory days and longing to secure a spectacular final role, all while pursuing a new love interest and his estranged daughter. R, 1 hour and 33 minutes. Popcorn will be served, no RSVP is needed.
Knitting & Crochet Club
Enjoy an evening of knitting and crocheting at the library on Monday, August 20, starting at 7 pm. New members welcome.
Important Delivery Update
Patrons may now have up to three book requests at once. If you have more, they won't be automatically cancelled, but you won't be able to place any new requests until you have less than three. BCCLS informational video:
Leveled Reading List Books Available
Noecker Kids & Parents: We now have a list of books available at the library for the leveled reading system used at Noecker Elementary School. All you have to do is inquire at the Circulation Desk, and you can see a list of books at your child's current level that we have available.
Library Book Club July Selection
The Roseland Free Public Library Book Club will meet on Wednesday, July 25, at 7:15 pm to discuss The Last Letter From Your Lover by Jojo Moyes. A mysterious 40-year-old love letter sends journalist Ellie Haworth on a dual quest for her own happily ever after while investigating the outcome of the unknown couple from the letter she found. New members welcome.
Scott's Solutions: Classes by Appointment
Library assistant Scott Bergenfeld can show you the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tech resources Mondays or Fridays 9 am-noon. Safely navigate social media; create resume templates, letters, and spreadsheets; utilize cell phone, iPad, and Kindle features, such as calendars and more. Please note: RSVP needed for this drop-in instruction, call 973-226-8636.
Mobile Hotspots Available
Mobile Hotspots are now available for our patrons to borrow! Available to patrons 18 or older with a valid driver's license and Roseland Free Public Library card in good standing. Each hotspot provides internet access for up to 10 devices. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and the loan period is 14 days. There will be a $5 per day late fee.
Museum Passes Available
Patrons can borrow passes for themselves and/or their families for Montclair Art Museum, Morris Museum, The NY Transit Museum, The Jewish Museum, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, Grounds for Sculpture, and Imagine That! Please check out the new borrowing guidelines under the "Museum Passes" tab on the home page.
